Application of the method of correlated basis functions to nuclear matter

Abstract:The binding energy of nuclear matter is evaluated for Hamada-Johnston and other potentials in terms of non-central correlations determined by constrained variation. The ground-state energy expectation value is computed through three-body cluster order, and the effects of residual correlations incorporated approximately using non-orthogonal perturbation theory.
