QCD prediction of transverse momentum distribution of partons

A general method to compute the development of the transverse momentum distributions of the partons as Q² increases is presented. As an example, the average 〈p_⊥²〉 is computed for the valence, charmed, sea and gluonic partons in the Q² range from 1 GeV² to 120 GeV². The results show a fast increase of the gluonic contribution, a slow increase of the valence contribution and an almost flat sea contribution.
