Phenomenological constraints on broken supersymmetry

Abstract:We show that the existence of massless color octet quarks, which appear in a class of broken supersymmetric field theories, implies the existence of additional light (? 1 GeV) unstable hadrons with large (? 10 μb) production cross sections. We estimate the half-life for these states to be less than 10?8 s. If it is greater than 10°10 s, these states are already ruled out experimentally.
