Sum frequency generation at 365 nm by two diode lasers applied to the detection of mercury

Abstract:365 nm laser light is produced by sum frequency generation in a LiIO3 crystal using two continuous-wave single mode diode lasers. The efficiency of sum frequency generation as well as the applicability as a radiation source for the detection of mercury are discussed.
