| Abstract: | Synthesis of 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-fluorobenzoc]phenanthrenes by photocyclization of appropriate β-naphth-l-yl fluorostyrenes is described. An improved synthesis of 6-fluorobenzoc]phenanthrene was developed. Partial photochemical debromination occured upon cyclization of 2-bromo-7-fluorobenzoc]phenanthrene. |
