Abstract: | A self-consistent procedure for deriving subgrid scale models for a complex system of equations is presented. When applied to the Navier-Stokes equation for incompressible flow it reproduces the differential version of the stress-similarity model with a correct coefficient. As an example the complete system of equations is derived for an ocean global circulation model. |
