Abstract:α-Fe2O3 nanoparticle with diameter of 10 nm was prepared by high energy ball milling directly from coarse α-Fe2O3 powders. It was found that the Mossbauer spectrum of the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticle at room temperature showed magnetic splitting sexlet lines broadened asymmetrically toward the central peaks .The asymmetric broadening of the spectral peaks could be attributed to the collective magnetic excitations. The anisotropic constant of the α-Fe2O3 nanoparticle exhibited a very high value (K=8.9×103J•m-3).
