(–)‐epi‐Inosose‐2

The structure of the title compound, C₆H₁₀O₆, was determined to confirm the position of the keto group in the mol­ecule prepared enantioselectively by a bioconversion from myo‐inositol. There are two independent mol­ecules showing similar geometry.
