Abstract: | The complex ZnL]·10H2O (L = 2,13-bis(2-carboxymethyl)-3,14-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo14,4,01.18,07.12]docosane) has been synthesized and structurally characterized. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 10.159(1), b = 10.066(3), c = 17.268(2) Å, = 102.92(1)°, V = 1721.0(5) Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure reveals an axially elongated octahedral geometry with bonds from the zinc(II) ion to the secondary and tertiary amines of the macrocycle and two oxygen atoms of the pendant carboxymethyl groups. The molecules of the zinc(II) complex are connected into a two-dimensional chain via hydrogen bonds. |
