Preparation of 6,7-ethylenedioxyco umarins and their 3-nitro and 3-amino derivatives

6,7-Ethylenedioxycoumarin and 6,7-ethylenedioxy-4-methylcoumarin have been synthesized by the reaction of esculetin and 4-methylesculetin, respectively, with 1,2-dibromoethane.
