Kinetic aspects of flocculation of bentonite clay in the presence of anionic and cationic acrylamide copolymers

The flocculation kinetics in aqueous-salt medium in the presence of anionic and cationic high-molecular-weight random acrylamide copolymers was studied in the hindered sedimentation mode, with a suspension of bentonite clay as example. The influence exerted on the flocculation parameters by the concentration and order of addition of ionic acrylamide copolymers taken in various combinations was analyzed.
