| Abstract: | 2,5-Diphenyloxazole is protonated by sulfuric acid in acetonitrile solvent. The existence of a simple acid base equilibrium is demonstrated by u.v.—visible spectroscopy. Polarographic and cyclic voltammetric data suggest that the protonated heteroaromatic is reduced in a diffusion-controlled step at potentials slightly less negative than the nonprotonated form. |
