| Abstract: | Equations relating the effect of cell resistance to the background current in phase sensitive fundamental harmonic a.c. polarography have been derived. Under normal experimental conditions the background current was found to be proportional to the specific resistance of the supporting electrolyte and the squares of the a.c. signal frequency and electrode double layer capacity. |
