| Abstract: | Using a spectrum ～Ω 2√Ω m 2 ?Ω 2 for the frequenciesΩ of the ideal crystal simple analytic expressions are derived for the response function, phonon scattering cross section and related quantities. The interpretation of resonances and localized vibrations as damped and undamped harmonic oscillators is discussed in detail. |
