Abstract: | The composition and structure of a new complex of pentavalent neptunium [NpO2(N3)(Phen)(H2O)]2 · 3H2O are studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. The coordination polyhedron of the Np atom is a pentagonal bipyramid, and the nearest environment of each neptunoyl ion contains two nitrogen atoms of phenanthroline and the azide ion. The phenanthroline molecules act as bidentate chelate ligands closing the five-membered metal cycles. The presented absorption spectra of the compound in the visible and IR regions reflect the specific features of the complex structure. |
