| Abstract: | Absolute configuration of the 3,5-diaminohexanoic acid produced in the β-lysine mutase reaction The (3S, 5S)-configuration of the 3,5-diaminohexanoic acid 3 produced by the coenzyme-B12-dependent β-lysine mutase from Clostridium sticklandii has been determined by two different methods: by comparison of the 1H-NMR.-spectrum of its δ-lactam with that of synthetic (±)-cis-and (±)-trans-4-amino-6-methyl-piperidones ( 1 and 2 ) and by chemical correlation with (+)-(6S)-6-methyl-piperidone-2 ( 9 ). |
