(Vapor + liquid) equilibrium for the binary systems {water + glycerol} and {ethanol + glycerol, ethyl stearate, and ethyl palmitate} at low pressures

Abstract:This work reports the experimental measurements {(vapor + liquid) equilibrium} for the systems {water(1) + glycerol(2)}, {ethanol(1) + glycerol(2)}, {ethanol(1) + ethyl stearate(2)}, and {ethanol(1) + ethyl palmitate(2)}. Boiling temperatures were measured using an Othmer-type ebulliometer over a pressure range of 14 kPa to 96 kPa. The experimental data were well correlated using the NRTL and UNIQUAC models. The performance of the UNIFAC-Dortmund model in relation to predicting the phase equilibrium of the systems was also studied.
