| Abstract: | A one-pot reaction of maltol with Lawesson's reagent generates dithiomaltol, a thiopyran-4-thione, via an unusual heterocyclic atom exchange (HCAE) reaction; only pyrones with proton or aliphatic substituents undergo the HCAE substitution. |
