Abstract: | Abstract The reaction between barium 2,6-dimethylphenoxide (1) and copper 2,2,6,6-tetramethylheptane-3,5-dionate gave the volatile β-diketonatoaryloxide Cu(μ-OC6H3-2,6-Me2)(thd)]2 (2). The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and ESR spectroscopy as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallises in the space group P21 /c with a = 6.602(2), b = 24.454(5), c = 12.391(4) Å, β = 95.49(2)°. TGA experiments at 1 atmosphere show that 2 is volatile and decomposes at 292°C to metallic copper by a ligand-mediated reduction. |
