A correlation between electrical and optical properties of a-C: H films

a-C: H films deposited from pure acetylene vapor in a glow-discharge plasma were investigated. Current density vs. applied voltage plots are presented for systems consisting of a transparent conducting electrode, an a-C: H film, and a mercury contact. The resistivity, absorption coefficient at a wavelength of 632.8 nm, and the optical energy gap of a-C: H films are related to the deposition rate.
