| Abstract: | Spectrophotometric investigations on the adducts of iodine with pyrrolidine-2-thione, 1,3-oxazolidine-2-thione, 1,3-thiazolidine-2-thione and N-methyl-1,3-thiazolidine-2-thione have been carried out in carbon tetrachloride and dichloromethane solutions. These complexes show a very intense peak, due to the charge transfer band, and the well known “blue shift” of the visible band of iodine, whereas the analogous shift of the ligand is masked from the solvents. Their thermodynamic and spectral characteristics have been determined and compared with those of the series of 1,3-imidazolidine-2-thione. |
