| Abstract: | The corresponding nitroperimidines are formed instead of the expected nitroso compounds in the reaction of nitrous acid with perimidine and aceperimidine derivatives. Nitrogen oxides formed during the decomposition of nitrous acid are apparently the nitrating agent. In fact, nitrogen dioxide very readily nitrates perimidines and aceperimidines. |
