ESR study of radical intermediates formed upon photooxidation of 4,4"-diazidodiphenyl

Abstract:Radical intermediates (phenyl and phenylcarbonyl radicals) formed in photooxidation of 4,4"-diazidodiphenyl in benzene and toluene have been studied by ESR spectroscopy. These radicals are formed as a result of abstraction of a hydrogen atom from a solvent molecule by the triplet nitrene—dioxygen complex.
