Minimization of extended quadratic functions

Summary A method is given for constructing algorithms which generate conjugate search directions when applied to functions of the formF o q whereq is a positive-definite quadratic andF is a non-negative strictly increasing function of a single variable with a non-vanishing derivative. Perfect line searches are not assumed.
