Abstract: | Conventional electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) have been modernized over the last few decades. In recent years, many new methods of construction have been proposed with the goal of increasing cleaning efficiency, particularly for particles in the submicrometer size range. Adding electrical forces to traditional filters has also resulted in an increase in their collection efficiency for removing dust particles. This paper reviews modifications to ESPs aimed at increasing overall collection efficiency, as well as electrostatically assisted non-electric gas cleaning devices such as cyclones, fibrous filters, and granular-bed filters assisted by electrostatic field or ionization current. |
