A new and convenient synthesis of phendiones oxidated by KBrO3/H2SO4 at room temperature

Abstract:A new method is described to synthesize phendione derivatives from 1,10-phenanthrolines using potassium bromate and 60% sulfuric acid as oxidant, which was easily applicable to scale-up. The reaction conditions are mild and the yields are excellent. The target compounds have been characterized by 1H NMR, and IR.
