| Abstract: | Nickelocene Ni(π-C5H5)2 reacts with triethylphosphite in dioxane at 50–70° to give NiP(OC2H5)3]4. Kinetic studies confirm a third-order rate law for this ligand substitution process with the activation parameters Ea = 6.8 kcal/mole and ΔS≠ = ?53.8 e. u. The mechanistic implications of these results are discussed. |
