Homoclinic Bifurcations in Simple Parametrically Driven Systems

Abstract:In this paper we consider the onset of chaotic particle motion in a perturbed Morse potential and the homoclinic bifurcations in a parametrically driven Lorenz system. The Melnikov-Keener method is used to derive bifurcation conditions for the parameters of the dynamical systems. For some selected parameter values the theoretical predictions are checked by numerical experiments.
