Mechanistic model of disproportionation of nitrogen monoxide on CaHY-type zeolite

Abstract:Infrared spectra produced by adsorbing, by evacuating and by readsorbing NO on CaHY-type zeolite were examined. The absorption peaks were identified by comparing the spectra produced by adsorbing and by evacuating N2O and NO2. Based upon the experimental evidence, an eight-step mechanism was proposed for the behavior of NO on CaHY-type zeolite. A mechanistic model of the disproportionation reaction of NO was deduced from the variation of the spectra with time.
