| Abstract: | The theory, and the problems encountered in the development of diffuse-reflectance spectroscopy in the infrared region as an analytical technique, are reviewed. The introduction of Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers has eliminated the difficulty of detecting small scattered intensities, and diffuse-reflectance measurement is now a routine method. The first commercial instruments are now available. |
