Abstract: | The thickness of the ionic conductor in an electrochemical cell is shown to be among the governing parameters of the cell's performance. Internal field, I-V characteristics and p-n ‘junctions’ formed upon voltage application are investigated through a computer model based on fundamental charge transport equations including also Poisson's equation. |
