Determimation of Cu and Fe in Hobium by Electrolytic Dissolution and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

Abstract

The method of electrolytic dissolution in organic solvents (saturated with NH₁Cl) followed by atomic absorption spectroscopy was applied to the determination of Fe and Cu impurities in niobium metal. It was found that a previously reported decrease in sensitivity could be attributed to precipitation of NH₄Cl on the walls of the feeding chamber of the spectrometer and could be avoided by diluting the solution before measurement.
