The Successful Use of Cellulose Acetate Membrane for Very Low Density Lipoprotein Isolation and Cholesterol Quantitation

Abstract

The lipoproteins have been successfully isolated electrophoretically from the blood samples of patients having suffered from hyperlipoproteinemia type III but having survived myocardial infarction. The VLDL fraction from the cellulose acetate membrane is cut out and the total cholesterol and cholesterol of the VLDL extracted. The cholesterol is determined using an immobilized cholesterol esterase/oxidase column using a flow injection analysis system.
