A Comparison of Two Sampling Devices for the Recovery of Organics from Aqueous Surface Films

Abstract

Teflon disc and wire screen type surface film samplers were compared as to their consistency and efficiency of retrieval of hydrocarbons, aromatics, and free fatty acids. Both laboratory and field experiments were conducted. The results obtained suggest that each device exhibits selectivity in its respective ability to recover organic compounds at the air-water interface.
