Automatic Carbon,Hydrogen, Nitrogen,Sulfur Analyzer Ciiemistry of Sulfur Reactions

Abstract

An automatic analyzer for the simultaneous microdetermination of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulfur is described. The method is based on the uncatalyzed, dynamic, flash-combustion of the sample in an oxygen/helium atmosphere in a quartz tube. Separation of the combustion gases, N₂, CO₂, SO₂, and H₂O is accomplished by using gas chromatography and a thermal conductivity detector. Reactions of SO₂ formation are given in detail.
