| Abstract: | Abstract An HPLC method for analysis of atenolol in human plasma and urine is presented. Based on alkaline extraction, acid backextraction and reverse phase ion-pair chromatography this method is quite specific for atenolol. For a 0.5 ml plasma sample the sensitivity ranges from 20 ng/ml in fasted healthy volunteers to 50 ng/ml in various groups of patients. A sensitivity in urine of 1.0 mcg/ml was sufficient for all samples studied. As presented this method has been used in several clinical pharmacokinetic studies involving hundreds of samples. |
