| Abstract: | This article highlights Ru complexes, which effect catalytic hydrogenation of polar organic functionalities containing C-O bonds other than aldehydes or ketones. The unique ability of Ru complexes to undergo heterolytic dihydrogen cleavage seems to play a key role in these catalyses. |
