Elastic stresses in a half-space with a spherical foreign inclusion

We solve an axisymmetric problem of the theory of elasticity for a half-space with a spherical foreign inclusion given a preliminary heating or subject to an autostrain. It is shown that the stresses on the surface of the half-space may exceed the stresses on the boundary of contact when the distance from the inclusion to the surface is sufficiently small.
