2-Amino-3-hydroxypyridine as a chromogenic reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of osmium

2-Amino-3-hydroxypyridine forms two coloured complexes, green and violet, with osmium, depending on the pH of the solutions. Based on this reaction, a selective and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of osmium (3-13 ppm in the final solution) alone and in the presence of other metal ions has been developed.
