Analysis of microbiocidal isothiazolonesI. Identification by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry Summary Methyl-isothiazolone products were investigated with capillary gas chromatography/mass Spectrometry after extraction and thin-layer chromatographic separation. 2-methyl-isothiazol-3-one and 5-chloro-2-methyl-isothiazol-3-one were identified as major components and 4,5-dichloro-2-methyl-isothiazol-3-one, 3-chloro-N-methylpropionamide and dichloro-N-methyl-acetamide as minor components. 2-n-octyl-isothiazol-3-one was identified as the active agent in an octyl isothiazolone product whereas chlorinated compounds could not be found. |
