Abstract: | Rate coefficients for the quenching of HgBr(B2∑+) by HgBr2, H2, CO2, CO, O2, N2, Xe, and Br2 are reported. HgBr(B2∑+) is formed by the photolysis of HgBr2 with the output from an ArF laser. The rate coefficients are determined by monitoring the time resolved B2∑+ → X2∑+ emission as quenching species are added. Radiative lifetimes at particular emission frequencies are also reported, and quenching mechanisms are discussed. |
