eμ measured by electron scattering and muonic atom X-rays were used to derive ‘experimental’ coefficients C
1,exp for 54 isotope pairs of 18 elements from Mo to U. A χ2-analysis shows that these experimental coefficients are – on average – 3.5% lower than the theoretical C
1 values calculated by Seltzer, or more precisely: C
1,exp=0.965(± 0.014)×C
1. The need for more accurate theoretical calculations is stressed, and consequences of this deviation are discussed.
