Abstract: | Using the thermodynamic theory of phase transitions, it is shown that an electric field increases the critical size and work for bubble nucleation in a superheated liquid and impedes the process; it decreases the critical size and work for liquid droplet formation in a supercooled vapour and enhances the process. |
