| Abstract: | The equation of state of the XY model in a longitudinal (Γ) and transverse field (B) is investigated in the vicinity of a multicritical point (Γc, T =0) using the renormalization group method developed recently by the author and K. Walasek. For Γ = Γc a quantal crossover behaviour of the form H = MR3ψ (z) is obtained, where H ～ B, MR denotes the transverse magnetization, z ～ TMR?/βq, while ?,βq are crossover and multicritical exponents, respectively. |
