| Abstract: | Iterated splittings seem attractive in view of consistency and local accuracy. In this note it will be shown, however, that for stiff systems the stability properties are quite poor. Specific Runge–Kutta implementations can improve stability, but this leads to classes of methods that are better studied in their own right. |
