Abstract: | A tris-cationic artificial receptor 1 efficiently binds anionic carbohydrates even in aqueous solution as shown by NMR and UV titration experiments. Complex formation involves both ion pair formation and H-bonds to the sugar, explaining the preference for saccharides compared to simple anions and the observed selectivities among different sugars. structure: see text] |
