Abstract: | In strychninium 4‐chlorobenzoate, C21H23N2O2+·C7H4ClO2−, (I), and strychninium 4‐nitrobenzoate, C21H23N2O2+·C7H4NO4−, (II), the strychninium cations form pillars stabilized by C—H⋯O and C—H⋯π hydrogen bonds. Channels between the pillars are occupied by anions linked to one another by C—H⋯π hydrogen bonds. The cations and anions are linked by ionic N—H+⋯O− and C—H⋯X hydrogen bonds, where X = O, π and Cl in (I), and O and π in (II). |
