| Abstract: | The possibility of using the method of frustrated total internal reflection (the two-media method) to determine the optical constants n and k in the value ranges 1. 3k  0. 2 is considered. It is shown that the accuracy of the Kravets method in this range of k values can be increased considerably by choosing optical media with refractive indices relatively close to the refractive index (outside the absorption band) of the system under investigation.We are deeply grateful to N.
