| Abstract: | Ethyl ethoxymethylenemalonate reacts with cyanothioacetamide andN-methylmorpholine to giveN-methylmorpholinium 3-cyano-5-ethoxycarbonyl-6-oxopyridine-2-thiolate. Alkylation of the latter yieldsS-alkyl derivatives.
