| Abstract: | The novel styryl lactone analog (±)-3-deoxyisoaltholactone was synthesized in 5 steps from dihydrofuran. An intramolecular vinylsilane–oxocarbenium condensation thus afforded the central cis-fused bicyclic ether array in near quantitative yield as a single stereoisomer. |
